Antique English Wedgwood & Co Brown Transferware Platter

A beautiful late 19th-century English oval serving platter by Wedgwood & Co featuring the intricate Louise pattern. Rich brown transferware decorates a warm ivory base, with delicate flowering branches, a bird, nautical scene and an unusual arrangement of geometric medallions and Japanese-inspired motifs. An elaborate patterned border frames the generously proportioned platter.

Dating to the Victorian era, the Louise pattern was registered in 1881 and reflects the influence of the Aesthetic Movement. A wonderful piece for serving, displaying, or adding to a collection of antique English transferware.
